Some information on the older device from a reliable source:

The picture is of an IBM 305 RAMAC.
Capacity = 5 MB (Not GB or TB)
Announced = 1957
Price = $ Many thousands
Speed = Very slow
Platter diameter = 30 in.
During manufacturing, the iron oxide solution was poured on the rotating
aluminum platter from a dixie cup!
